Students Create Film for BBC
BBC Producer, Helen Bailey (centre), with media students
Two groups of Doncaster College
students are currently working with the BBC on a variety of media
projects connected to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards
which is being held at the Sheffield Arena in December this
year.
The BBC has been looking for colleges or
schools from the South Yorkshire region to work with, and the
College was successful in having not one, but two applications
approved.
BBC Producer, Helen Bailey has been
delivering workshops along with BBC colleagues to First Media
students with the intent of helping them produce a documentary on
sporting achievements at the College. Helen has also delivered a
workshop on news reporting to National Diploma media students. The
finished films will be shown on the BBC website and possibly Look
North, and five lucky students will be chosen to interview and film
some of the sporting personalities shortlisted for this years’
awards.
Dawn Howden, course leader in Media said,
"This is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain an insight
into the television and radio industry and gain experience in
working with BBC producers on live projects and as part of a
team."
Doncaster College runs a host of Media-based courses from its
Hub and High Melton sites. Further details can be obtained by
