Money Rolls in for Children in Need
College students and staff raised hundreds of pounds for
charity as the Children in Need frenzy hit Doncaster
College.
So far over £800 has been raised but the pot is expected to rise
as more money rolls in from across the College's sites in the next
few days
The College’s Hub campus was filled with students dressed to
impress many in onesies and fancy dress.
Hayley Goddard, a Level 2 Aviation student assisted by Chloe
Halpin and Danielle Parker, planned and organised a terrific fund
raising event as part of problem solving and team work skills
linked to their studies, supported by Tutor Alan Madin, and Emily
Shaw and Mike Batty from the Students Union, they also managed to
persuade Alan to dress as a pink fairy for the day, which raised
£200.
Learners from Catering, Travel and Cabin crew all joined in to
help in the activities, and tasty goodies such as cakes and sweets
were on sale, cream pies were thrown at volunteers in the stocks,
there was tombola, guess the weight of the cake, mock cocktails,
bungee run and sumo suits and the book stall was a complete sell
out.
Radio Sheffield broadcast live, from the Hub, during their
afternoon show.
Other activities were going on across college and many students
and staff have joined in the fun, amongst them Childcare students
came in their onesies and PJs and staff dressed as ‘foxy
ladies’.
A College spokesman said: "It’s great to see students getting
involved in fundraising events like this. They have put a lot of
effort into their activities and it all pays off when they see the
amount of money raised."
