Simon was accompanied by his former first team sports science assistant David Kelley, who is a former Doncaster College student. David gave an insight into how sports science applications are utilised within professional clubs to increase and maintain performance.

Simon and David also described a coaching company they operate in the USA in partnership with current Manchester United player Paul Scholes. Students were excited to hear that many working opportunities will be made available to them within the company to commence Summer 2010.

Glenn Hazelhurst, Director of Community Sports Partnerships at the College said: “Both Simon and David gave a fascinating real insight into the demands of modern, professional sport. The opportunities they presented to the students regarding working experiences in the USA were particularly exciting and will provide the students with a very worthwhile opportunity to further develop their cultural knowledge and working skills.”

Doncaster College runs a host of sports-based courses from its Hub campus.
