New Sports and Fitness Course at University Centre

A new Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Sport, Fitness and Exercise Science is up and running this academic year (2012/13) at University Centre Doncaster.

The new programme has been designed for those who want to work in either of the Sport, Fitness and Exercise sectors. With the recent Olympic and Paralympics Games proving a huge success it is anticipated that there will be a surge in growth in these sectors which will require suitably qualified staff to deal with the expansion.

The programme is validated by the University of Hull but has also received a professional endorsement from Doncaster Rovers Football Club who believe this programme meets the needs of their organisation.

Rovers Sport Scientist, Rob Pacey said, "The modules and assessment on the BSc Hons in Sport, Fitness and Exercise Science clearly relate to the types of activities a sport scientist like me would be required to do day to day at our club."

Tom Mitchell, Higher Education Co-ordinator for Sport at the University Centre Doncaster, said, "As programme leader I feel this professional endorsement shows that we deliver relevant qualifications that support students in obtaining real jobs in this demanding sector. We are very proud to have Doncaster Rovers FC on board with this programme and we hope to build on this relationship through providing students to the club to support their work placement programme."

University Centre Doncaster and Doncaster College run a host of sports-based courses from High Melton and The Hub.
