Open Day at Doncaster College East
Doncaster College East in Stainforth is opening its
doors again and extending a welcome to prospective students and all
those who wish to start their own business.
The open day is on the Wednesday 19th September between the
hours of 10am and 2pm.
The open day is designed to display the benefits of the Centre
to the people of Stainforth and the surrounding area. On hand will
be staff from Doncaster College able to offer advice on courses
such as Cake Decorating, Hair and Beauty, Employability Skills, and
ICT.
The event will also showcase Doncaster College, East’s brand new
Enterprise Zone, which will provide services and support for
innovation and business start-ups. This will include a one-stop
shop, no cost service with dedicated resources aimed at providing
the skills required for starting a business.
For the first year, business’s will have access to an
‘incubation pod’ which will include a desk, computer and telephone
and a bookable meeting / training room with presentation
facilities. They will also get assistance with a self-employment
business planning service, One-to-one meetings to discuss business
ideas, workshops supporting the setting up and running of their
business, Signposting to relevant training within the College to
support their business and an opportunity to complete Enterprise
courses via Doncaster College.
Ann Jackson, Lead Business Mentor at the College said, “As part
of the ERDF net315 Incubation and Education project we would like
to invite anyone who is interested in starting their own business
to come along to have a look at the office space available at
Doncaster College, East in Stainforth on Wednesday 19th September,
we can also discuss the available support and encouragement to help
ensure a favourable outcome.
We also have a business opportunity for someone wishing to run a
catering business supplying the students and public attending the
centre. There is also an opportunity for a childcare facility to
cater for students who are attending Doncaster College.”
Recently renamed Doncaster College, East, the former Stainforth
Further Education Centre has been refurbished, with a new roof and
signs, and decorated inside by students from Doncaster College’s
painting and decorating department. The centre is also home to the
Inspire Hair and Beauty Salon, which is run and managed by students
from the college.
The continued support of the centre is part of Doncaster
College’s commitment to help meet the needs of the local community
and businesses by offering a range of learning opportunities,
business start-up and training prospects and advice to all, and in
the process helping to make adult learning more accessible.
