'Practice What You Preach 2012'

Visual arts lecturers from Doncaster College’s Academy of Creative Industries are staging an exhibition of their own work called ‘Practice What You Preach 2012’ at The Point, in Doncaster. The exhibition runs until Friday 19 October.

22 arts lecturers and managers, with combined experience as artists and designers of more than 150 years, will show a collection of paintings, drawings, sculptures, textiles, photographs, ceramics and prints during the eight week exhibition.

Ian Latham, the assistant director of the School of Creative Industries, said: “We are really excited to be showing our work at the Point after our very successful exhibition in 2010. This year there are more artists taking part showing a wide variety of work that reinforces our commitment to teaching as practitioners. Our students will visit the exhibition to see what their lecturers do and be encouraged to visit future exhibitions as we continue our valuable relationship with DARTS (Doncaster Community Arts).”

Helen Jones, Arts Development Manager at The Point, said: “It’s wonderful to see the passion that each of the arts lecturers puts into their own exquisite work which in turn should inspire young people in Doncaster.”

The artists involved in the exhibition will be bringing groups of their students along to The Point to share the broad range of creative and cultural opportunities right on their own doorstep.
