I have worked in the Human Resource
Management team since 2003. I am currently responsible for
Training and Development, Induction and Appraisal.
As part of Staff Inductions, we now ask that
all staff attend a Welcome Meeting, which where possible, will take
place on the first day at work.
The aim of the information provided at
Induction is to provide a link to Probation, Appraisal and
Continuous Professional Development, and therefore to highlight the
importance of continuous development.
The regulations for continuing professional
development, registration and teaching qualifications came into
force on 1st September 2007. In accordance with
these regulations, all academic staff are now required to register
with the Institute for Learning. New
lecturers should join within six months of starting teaching, and
current lecturers are required to join straight away.
