| Name: Ash Appleyard |
| Age: 16 |
| Course: BTEC Level 3 Sport and Exercise
Science |
| Interesting Fact: I finished second in the 400
metres at the Under 20’s North of England Indoor Athletics
Championships in Sheffield. |
I chose to study Sport and Exercise Science
because of my interest in sports and in particular athletics.
My final year at High School dragged and I
needed a change, so I attended a one week taster session at the
College which I loved so I signed up straight away.
College is more challenging than school and
you are treated like an adult, the tutors here are really friendly,
easy to approach and always available whenever you need to talk to
them.
You have more responsibility for your work
here. The tutors have an input, but at the end of the day
it’s down to me to complete the work to the standard required and I
like that responsibility.
The facilities at The Hub are fantastic, its
not an intimidating place and everywhere is easy to find.
There’s a brilliant gym and sports hall, the library has every bit
of reference material I need and in the classrooms we’ve got easy
access to PC’s.
I’m hoping to get a scholarship at a local
university when I’ve completed my course so that I can still be
near my coach and fulfil my ambition to compete at national
level.
