Balancing a full-time job with a
part-time qualification can be demanding, particularly given the
nature of my role: attending UCAS fairs, schools and careers fairs
and similar events, but I’m glad I stayed focused and completed the
course.
I completed my CIM qualification in December
and just got my results last month - receiving a merit in one
module.
At first it was difficult to get back into
studying after steering clear of text books for a long time after
finishing my degree but the course mates that I studied with were
really friendly and supportive and we always went through stuff we
didn’t understand together.
Throughout the course I received a lot of
support from the CIM tutor Neil Kelley
who provided me with loads of really good feedback about my essays
and by the end of my course I felt I knew exactly what the
examiners were looking for.
After completing the course I feel I have a much
broader view of marketing and a better understanding of how it is
used by organisations worldwide.
I would say that’s one of the most interesting
things about the CIM course is meeting like-minded people whose
marketing expertise draws on a wide variety of different sectors.
Obviously working in marketing in the public sector is very
different from the private sector, and it was really interesting to
get other people’s perspectives and explore ideas and concepts
through teamwork and class discussion.
Being qualified means I have an
internationally- recognised qualification in my field and a certain
level of knowledge which will provide a broad foundation upon which
I can progress in my career.
