Moving up the Ladder!
Chris Shaw’s decorating career began when he gave a mate a
helping hand.
He liked it and now he’s doing the Diploma Level 2 Painting and
Decorating course as well as the NVQ Level 2 Painting and
Decorating in the work place at Doncaster College.
“I wanted to learn more, get better and make a career out of it”
said Chris.
He’s certainly doing that…Chris, 23, is a very talented
decorator and has entered national competitions and was up in
Scotland, last year, for the final of Skillbuild where he performed
well against older and more experienced trainees. The College has
helped him run up and down the country and he is wanting to do more
mileage next year!
“College has been really helpful and has given me the all round
skills which are needed to be a good decorator and the confidence
to think about developing my career further”, Chris revealed.
Chris won the Outstanding Achievement Award at Doncaster
College’s 2010 Apprenticeship Award Ceremony and in the future
intends to progress to Level 3 and will have little difficulty
collecting the relevant work based experience required for
this.
Glynn Nettleton, his lecturer at the College said “Chris is a
credit to us and Oak Apple Decor his employer”
Chris will certainly be moving on up the ladder!
