Name: Hendrik Gabert
Course: Placement
Interesting Fact: I support the German football club Schalke 04

I am a placement student from Germany and I am doing my A - levels at Kuniberg Berufskolleg in Recklinghausen.

As part of my A - levels, every student on my course has to work in a foreign country, which is why i have chosen Doncaster instead of Barcelona, Krakow and Dublin.

I came to England three years ago as part of a tour with a school Big Band which is called "EKS Big Band" which works with the Doncaster Jazz Centre. I got to know people who work at Doncaster College and that's how I was able to get a placement.

It's amazing to see how it has changed, the whole place seems so vibrant and exciting. Over the three weeks I have worked in various departments, for example Social Science, the International office and the Marketing department. This placement has given me great experience of different types of work and I was able to improve my English skills.

The people in Doncaster are very friendly and they seem to love their Rock music! Also I have never seen so many pubs in one town, my favourites were Baileys and the Tut'n'Shive. The students were very welcoming especially the IB and Dance students who took me around town into several types of pubs and interesting places, and we had a really exciting time. Also the tutor who I got to know invited me to join in their lessons which was really interesting.

All in all I enjoyed my time in Doncaster and I look forward to coming back to Doncaster next year.
