| Interesting Fact: I've retrained because of the
recession |
I am 32 and was a housebuilder for 16 years but
unfortunately was made redundant because of the
recession.
I sort of saw it coming because the housing market was slowing
down way before anyone was talking about a recession. That's why I
decided to retrain and become a Track Technical Officer, gaining a
contract with Network Rail in Nottingham. The business I am going
into now is much stronger than the house building business with the
Government pledging £28bn over the next five years to secure the
industry.
I started at the bottom and now I've completed my ECDL Levels 1
and 2 and CAD Levels 1 and 2 so now I'm nearing the end of my
Levels 3 in both subjects. I've taken the courses at the
ICT Academy (at Doncaster
Business Innovation Centre) and at The
Hub and can recommend them both. The teachers are great and
have really helped me.
