Safety & Security
General Safety
Everyone must ensure their own health and safety, and that of
others, by following the College's Health and Safety Policy. A copy
of the policy is available at each campus Reception.
It is the duty of everyone to ensure that any activity or
situation that could put a person's health or safety at risk is
reported to a member of staff immediately.
If you have an accident and injure yourself, please let your
tutor or reception staff know immediately and First Aid
can then be arranged.
ID Badges
All students must wear thier ID Badges at all times. This is for
your safety and security. The College reserves the right to deny
access or ask an individual to leave the premises if they do not
display their ID badge or are unable to show some form of
identification which may be checked against enrolment information.
Please note that without an official, valid ID badge, you may not
be able to access some areas or services in the College.
Offsite students wishing to regularly access any of the campus
based resources or services may request an ID badge. Badges for
these students will be available from reception.
If you lose your badge a replacement may be obtained from
Learner Services.
Emergency Fire Procedures
All the information you will need, if the fire alarms sound, is
on the walls of your classrooms and the corridors, refectories and
workshops.
You must make sure you read this information and understand
where the assembly places are. You may need to use this information
if there is an emergency. Please ask your tutor about it if you are
unsure.
Briefly, this is what happens if there is a fire: If you find a
fire, go to the nearest fire alarm and break the glass. This will
make the alarms sound.
At The Hub - If
the alarm sounds you should leave the building immediately and
go straight to the nearest assembly area. The main assembly areas
are next to St Georges Bridge (next to the canal) and in the Pay
and Display car park next to the East Block.
At High Melton - If the
alarm sounds you should leave the building immediately - close all
the doors and windows of your classrooms and go straight to the
nearest assembly area. The assembley area is usually an area of
grass outside the building.
For further information about any of the above areas please
contact Learner Services.
