Support for Students
We know you’re looking for a quality course and a great place to
study, but you also need support to help you through your journey
from learning into work or further study.
Support for students with disabilities
We offer a wide range of support services for people with
learning difficulties and/or disabilities. For more information, go
to http://www.don.ac.uk/mini_sites/welfare/welfare.aspx
Students may also benefit from the Disabled Students' Allowance.
For more information, visit this
page.
Mature students
Don’t feel like you’ve missed the boat. We welcome mature
students at the University Centre and know that you’ll find it an
open, peaceful place to learn new skills and meet new people.
Careers guidance
All students enrolled on a course at the University Centre get
access to a specialist Careers Advisor for Higher Education. They
understand, and have information on, all undergraduate and
postgraduate courses, and can give you advice and interviews
throughout your time with us.
Counselling and welfare services
Based at all sites, our counselling team are always available
for you to talk to in confidence about any topic, whether it’s your
studies, family or relationships. Phone 01302 553741 or email
counselling.service@don.ac.uk.
Multi-faith chaplaincy
Our chaplaincy is supported by various faith groups in Doncaster
and serves the spiritual needs of the University Centre. The
multi-faith room can be accessed during the day, whatever your
faith, and even if you don’t have one, you can just use it to sit
quietly with your thoughts.

The Student Union
We want you to be yourself and do your thing, whatever that is
for you. Our Student Union gives you the support you need to do
that. You can become a member of the National Union of Students
(NUS) as soon as you enrol. You’ll get huge discounts on shopping
and all kinds of activities and entertainment. The Union plans
recreational, social and cultural activities throughout the year,
starting with events pencilled in for Fresher’s Week.
We want all our students to make the most of university life.
Whatever skills, knowledge and interests you bring, there’s always
space for you to express yourself and contribute.
Our Student Council system gives students a direct opportunity
to be even more involved in University Centre life, and ensures
student representation from across the University Centre on all HE
committees and on the Governing Board.
