The course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and
skills to make an improved contribution to your current or future
organisation. As such the course emphasises skills development. It
is demanding of your time, energy and commitment. Your tutors are
experienced HR Practitioners who are either Chartered Members or
Fellows of the CIPD.
How will this course help me and my organisation?
You will have the opportunity to bring real workplace issues to
the table, to analyse and find solutions to the challenges you
encounter in your own working environment.
You should also be able to:
- Act as a strategic partners within your organisation and ensure
all decisions are considered from the point of view of HRM
- Be self directed and able to act autonomously by applying
knowledge and skills gained to your management practice
- Deal with complex human resource issues and uncertainty
creatively and by using systematic models and procedures
- Communicate clearly to a range of audiences using a variety of
media
- Recognise the need for and have the ability to implement and
manage change
- Be confident in a variety of team roles and take leadership
roles where appropriate
- Make decisions in complex and unpredictable situations
- Make the strategic alignment between the organisation’s
strategic goals and the human resource strategy.
- To lead in the development and promotion of good practice in
the field of the management and development of people within your
organisation and related bodies
Course Content and Structure
Semester 1 and 2
- Research
- Internal Consultancy
The course runs over two semesters requiring the student to
attend for a series of stand alone two-day workshops to cover the
taught input together with individual tutorials.
Assessment
Assessment is based on an individual assignment and
dissertation.
Entry Requirements
Acceptance onto the course is subject to an interview with a
member of the CIPD team.
To be admitted to the programme, you shall normally:
- Have been awarded a Bachelors degree in any subject 2.2 or
above
- Have a minimum of 5 years experience in HR management
In addition, you must provide evidence that they:
- Have achieved a postgraduate diploma in Human Resource
Management equivalent to 120 credits, that can be mapped against
the learning outcomes.
- Are a Graduate or Chartered Member or Fellow of the CIPD, which
indicates that they have achieved the knowledge requirements, that
can be mapped against the learning outcomes.
