An HNC in an engineering discipline is considered to
be one of the benchmark qualifications for the industry. This
programme of study has been designed to give a substantial
grounding in the technician engineering field of Building Services
Engineering. The typical student will be either wishing to
enter (or already hold a post in) design/planning, specification
purchase, installation, or maintenance of building services
equipment.

Assessment
Assessment will be by a combination of methods
including coursework, projects and examinations.
Entry Requirements
Entry onto the two year HNC requires one of the
following:
- 120 UCAS Tariff Points- from at least 2 GCE A
Level with supporting GCSE grades A-C in appropriate science math’s
or technology subjects
- BTEC National Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma +
NVQ level 3 trade qualifications
- BTEC National Level 3 Diploma in Building
Services Engineering
- NVQ 3 Site Supervision or Site Technical
Operations
- Mature entrants with previous construction
experience may be recognised through Accreditation of Prior
Learning (APL)

to see evidence of continuing academic and/or professional
development and a capacity to pursue the course
successfully.

Students who successfully complete the course may choose to
proceed to the HND Building Services Engineering or progress to
professional institute examinations (CIBSE). Alternatively, they
may choose to enter the workforce.
