HND Construction (Conversion)
The BTEC Higher National Diploma in Construction is a
professional qualification and is a conversion top up qualification
for students who have already achieved the HNC. Students will
usually be in full employment and wishing to gain entry into
professional bodies by holding the relevant units of accreditation
required by those bodies

The HND conversion in Construction is one year of study which
consists of 6 specialist units which can be tailored to match
individual student specialisms. These can be agreed with the course
leader upon gaining entry to course and will selected from the
specialist list below.

Construction and Maintenance of Buildings; Technology of Complex
Buildings; Building Services Design and Maintenance in
Construction; Contractual Procedures and Procurement for
Construction and the Built Environment; Conversion and Adaptation
of Buildings; Measuring Tendering and Estimating for Construction
and the Built Environment; Project Management for Construction and
the Built Environment; Construction Methods and Design Solutions;
Specification and Contract Documentation; Structural Behaviour in
Buildings; Advanced Measurement for Construction; Design Procedures
for Construction; Design Technology for Construction; Site
Surveying Procedures for Construction and the Built Environment;
Computer Aided Design for Construction; Work Based Learning and
Assessment in Construction; Research Project
Assessment
Assessment will be by a combination of methods including
coursework, projects and examinations.
Entry Requirements
One of the following:
- A Current HNC in Construction
- Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)

meet the standard entry criteria, but we would expect to see
evidence of continuing academic and/or professional development and
a capacity to pursue the course successfully.
If your application is successful, you will be invited to attend
an interview to discuss your ability and suitability for the
course.

Students who successfully complete the course may choose to
proceed to the BSc (Hons) Integrated Technology taught at
University Centre Doncaster. Alternatively, they may choose
relevant Degree courses at various partner Universities or simply
to enter the industry workforce newly qualified.
Student Destinations
Students who have previously studied this qualification have had
a range of varying success. Some have entered Universities of their
choice where they have studied and gained higher level
qualifications, whereas others, who have been employed, have
received promotion and have risen to higher level positions within
their companies.
