Current roles
Lecturer - BA (Hons) Fine Art and Crafts
Biography
I originally studied Fashion at Northumbria University before
securing a teaching post at the University of Papua New Guinea for
four years. The vibrancy and energy of this cultural experience
still inspires my teaching practice and artwork today. Always a
fine artist at heart, on returning home to England, I studied for a
master’s degree in Fine Art at Leeds University.
I am currently the course leader for the Foundation course in
art and design. My teaching specialisms are contextual research,
drawing approaches, material manipulation, and reflective practice,
with the aim of making students into self reliant practitioners
ready for degree level study.
Current modules taught
BA (Hons) Fine Art and Crafts:
- Studio Practice – Final Major Project
- Tutorial Role in 1st and 2nd Years
Research / scholarly activity
My work spans the Textile and Fine Art disciplines exploring
both the material and symbolic qualities of materials and
processes. My preferred discipline is drawing, with the latest
series of studio works being 3D and concerned with the qualities of
line, edge and negative space that the new materials can offer. The
introduction of lighting literally projects the drawing process an
extra step.

of open art exhibitions including Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery
and the 12A Gallery. I have also participated in a series of Visual
Arts staff exhibitions, the latest one having been housed at The
Point gallery
