Lecturer - BA (Hons) Fine Art and Crafts
Biography
I began studying at the now Manchester Metropolitan University
in 1972, initially on the pre Diploma course and then through to
MA. I have worked as a lecturer at Doncaster College since 1978,
and have been employed on a part time basis since 2000.
In addition to my teaching role I became an External Moderator
for CGLI in the 1980s. Outside of my lecturing role I have made
four visits to South Africa since 2000, researching and buying
crafts for resale in UK. I have a particular interest in crafts
made from recycled materials and am a practising artist, currently
making and selling textile jewellery and regularly exhibiting work
and works to commissions. My other interests/activities include
literature and film, gardening, visiting historical properties and
walking.

BA (Hons) Fine Art and Crafts:
- Textiles Modules at Level 4 and 5
Research / scholarly activity
Continuous creative practice within own study area of
Embroidery.
Regular visitor to museums, art and craft galleries, and
artists/craftspeople studios and applying influences to own work as
applicable.
Projects
I am currently working on a series of miniature stitched
portraits in response to a request for some miniature embroidery by
Professor Anne Morrell. This is required for a chapter in a book on
Hand Stitchery, which is due to be published by A & C Black
next year.
