Current roles
Programme Leader: FdA Animation & Games Art
Biography
Upon completing my degree, I, along with fifteen other
Illustration graduates from Kingston-Upon-Thames University,
organised an exhibition to showcase their work at the Association
of Illustrators Goodge Street Gallery, London. This was an exciting
start to entering the professional market and led to me remaining
in London working freelance for a year. After this, I returned to
the North of England and gained full-time employment in a regional
Design & Advertising Agency.
I left the design industry after a further three years to begin
my career in lecturing, initially working as a part-time design
lecturer at both Rotherham College of Art & Technology and
Doncaster College. Within six months, I was appointed as full-time
design course tutor at Doncaster College. Since that time she I
have held the posts of Course Leader for the ND Illustration, HND
Graphic Design (Illustration) and Deputy Section Head of Graphics
& Advertising. In 2008 I became the Programme Leader for the
FdA Animation & Games Art course.
In 2005 I decided to further develop my narrative illustration
skills by undertaking a Masters Degree in Design (Illustration) at
The University of Lincoln, which I successfully completed in
2008.

Research / scholarly activity
In 2009 I along with my colleague, Keith Hume completed a
year-long case-study looking into the creative industries, which
was one of the four priority learning areas of YHELLEN who funded
this project. The study involved exploring the perceptions of
student’s progression into, and from HE into the creative
industries in Yorkshire and Humberside, and the perceptions of
employers of graduates in this area. The report was published in
2010.
Projects
Recently, I have collaborated with Keith Hume, Programme Leader
BA (Hons) Illustration & Animation, on an International project
in partnership with Kirklees College, Jiangbin Vocational School
and Zhejiang University of Communications and Media in Hangzhou,
China.
