Janine Smith MA, BA (Hons),
PGCE
Current roles
Programme Leader and Lecturer: BA (Hons)
Dance Practice
Biography
I hold a BA (Hons) degree in Performing Arts and Digital Media
(Dance) and a Masters degree in Digital Performance, and worked as
a freelance community dance leader for seven years before teaching
in Further Education and then Higher Education. On commencement of
my appointment as Programme leader for the BA (Hons) Dance Practice
I began building up the professional links required to support the
curriculum, this has led to successful collaborations with groups
such as Hype and Phoenix. I feel that it is essential that students
combine their academic studies with as much contact with working
practitioners and as such I regularly arrange for students to
attend external performances.
