Keith Hume MA, MCSD, FHEA
Current roles
Programme Leader: BA (Hons) Illustration & Animation
Biography
I have been a professional illustrator since 1990 working
freelance in London then moving to work in Ingolstadt and
Stuttgart, Germany for the Audi VW Group. Following this I then
moved to work for an independent studio in Munich working freelance
for many large clients including BMW, Porsche and numerous
advertising agencies. I decided to return to the UK and continued
my freelance career and since then have worked for clients in the
UK, Europe and globally. My teaching career began in 1996 and I
became full time in 2000. I continue to combine my illustration
practice albeit in a limited capacity with teaching. I hold a
Masters Degree in Design (Illustration), am a professional Member
of The Chartered Society of Designers and have recently been made a
Fellow of The Higher Education Academy. I am currently involved in
consultancy work with Zhejiang University of Communication and
Media, Hangzhou, China. This ongoing project has resulted in unique
work related professional development modules being written and
implemented in China for Graphic Design and Animation students.
I began working as a part time lecturer at Doncaster College in
1996 on the National Diploma in Illustration teaching airbrush
illustration. Since then I have taught on the HND Illustration
course and was for a time the course Leader of this programme
before undertaking a position writing and leading FdA Animation and
Games Art and BA Illustration & Animation. I am now the
Programme Leader responsible for the BA (Hons) Illustration &
Animation top-up and a course tutor on the FdA Animation &
Games Art programme.
