College to Fight for Zest Quest Asia Crown

Posted: 19th December 2014

Doncaster College has been included in the shortlist for Zest Quest Asia’s final cook-off, the ground-breaking competition to find the college students who can best demonstrate their skills and knowledge of Asian cuisine.

In the end, six colleges from across the UK have made it to the shortlist compiled by Zest Quest Asia founder Cyrus Todiwala OBE and Clive Roberts, Chairman of the Master Chefs of Great Britain.

The short-listed colleges -Farnborough College of Technology, Doncaster College, Sheffield City College, University College Birmingham, Westminster Kingsway College and University of West London – have each fielded a team, comprised of three students, supported by their lecturer, and are now set to compete in a nail-biting cook-off to be held at the Hilton London Heathrow Terminal 5 on 16th February 2015. This will be followed by a Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony where the winners will be announced.

Followed by his recent visit to the College’s Waterfront Restaurant, Cyrus Todiwala said, ‘We were overwhelmed by the number of great entries, so it was a tough call. Given the quality of this year’s shortlisted teams, it looks like the judges are going to have a difficult time choosing a winner. I can only say to those shortlisted, you have done great, and if you can keep up the momentum till February, that trip to an Asian food capital may just be yours. I’m also so pleased that Zest Quest Asia seems to have captured the imagination of young cooks serious about their future careers”.
