Students Collaborate to Recreate Sporting Injuries

Posted: 12th December 2014

Students from the Level 2 Diploma in Sport and Level 3 Media Make Up Artistry have recently worked together to help each other meet learning criteria within their own courses. Sports students completed a number of scenarios where learners were treated for minor and major injuries. Make Up Artistry students provided the special effects make up to ensure the scenarios looked authentic and realistic.

The student make-up artists recreated excellent special effects injuries, to a brief provided by the sports course leader. All students’ demonstrated professional liaising skills and produced fantastic evidence for their portfolios, enhancing the student’s employability by developing practical workplace skills.

Course Leader for the Level 2 Sport programme, Jordan Pickering said, “It has been an excellent experience working collaboratively with another academic area within college. This has assisted in providing a better learning experience for both areas. Once the sport learners had been made up they got straight into character and performed the scenarios to a very high standard. The level 3 media group did such a fantastic job by providing realistic injuries that could occur within sport and active leisure”

Due to the success of this first collaboration this will be annual activity for both groups.
