College Enters Exciting Sports Academy Partnership

Posted: 8th January 2015

Doncaster College and University Centre have joined forces with Doncaster Knights to unveil a brand new Academy of Sport, aimed at developing elite Rugby players alongside studying academic qualifications.

The Academy of Sport allows students to fully prepare for a career in sport with much more than a qualification with endless opportunities to learn and play in a professional sporting environment.

The full time Rugby Development Centre will cater for two age groups:

  • 16-18 (FE) studying programs from levels P
  • Post 18 (HE) studying degrees in either Sports Science or PE & Coaching.

Players accepted to the Academy of Sport will complete all their Rugby activity at the Club fully utilising the professional facilities.  While having access to the same Sports Science and Medicine support that Knights players receive and working towards additional coaching and referee qualifications.  Such unique opportunities will allow Academy players to get in the mind set of how a professional club operates and what it takes to make it in the world of sport.
