Students Visit Berlin in Cultural Exchange

Posted: 27th March 2015

Eight Level 3 Photography students who are currently visiting Berlin have enjoyed cultural hints and tips from six German students who are currently studying at Doncaster College until June.

The six students are currently visiting from our partner school Oskar Kämmer Schule (OKS) in Braunschweig, Germany, met with the photography students to give them a taste of what to expect when they land in Berlin. Once back in the UK students will share their experiences and what they have learned with the OKS students offering them a photography lesson.

The trip will give learners the opportunity to experience a different culture as well as visiting galleries to see first-hand the work of influential and historical photographers such as Mario Testino and Helmut Newton. Students will have the opportunity to experience the huge expanse of culture and history which encompasses this beautiful city by a visit to the Jewish Museum and memorial and the Berlin wall.

International Projects & Partnerships Lead, Aliya Sorgen explains that, “This is a fantastic experience to help prepare our students for going abroad and equally to give our visiting international students a chance to see and experience other areas in college”.
