Maureen Sydney, Director of Higher Education at University Centre Doncaster (UCD) has been appointed as a panel member for the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), a tremendous honour for both UCD and the local community. Maureen will work alongside a highly acclaimed panel with the responsibility for deciding assessment outcomes for the newly developed HE ratings Framework.
Plans to rate universities on the quality of teaching were published by the Government on the 29th September 2016. The HE ratings framework aims to recognise and reward excellent learning and teaching, with higher education institutions being allocated a rating of “outstanding”, “excellent” or “meets expectations” based on a number of metrics and other evidence. The TEF panel comprises individuals from a range of different organisations and they will be responsible for deciding the assessment outcomes, based on recommendations and advice from a wider pool of academic and student assessors. Students applying to university from Autumn 2017, will be able to make informed decisions about where they are likely to receive the best teaching and obtain the best results based on the rating obtained.
Maureen Sydney – Director of Higher Education at University Centre Doncaster said:
“I’m thrilled and honoured to be appointed as a TEF panel member as part of HEFCE. Alongside my much respected colleagues I look forward to driving forward the implementation of the TEF in the HE sector”.
