Colleagues at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals have nominated one of our Level 3 Creative & Digital Media apprentice’s for Health Education England’s Advanced Non-Clinical Apprentice of the Year award.
Holly Ridgeway-Bowyer, 18, has been shortlisted for her outstanding work as an Apprentice Clinical Photographer, a role she started in August 2015, aiding the Trust’s Medical Photography team in capturing images of various conditions and procedures. As part of her apprenticeship, Holly currently splits her time between the Trust and Doncaster College.
Since joining the Trust, Holly has learnt this specialised craft under the guidance of the Trust’s Lead Clinical Photographer, learning the appropriate medical terminology and advancing her photography and videography skills. She has become an essential member of the team, helping to deliver an exceptionally quick service for patients, enabling the department, for the first time, to offer a same-day turnaround for clinical photography.
Holly has also worked closely with organisation’s Communications Team, helping to create short films for social media, one of which, focusing on the Emergency Department, has been viewed over 70,000 times on Facebook.
“When I was told I had been nominated for this award, I couldn’t believe it,” Holly said. “I’ve always had an interest in photography, and working within the Trust has allowed me to explore this further. I want to thank the team for their support during my apprenticeship and for showing me how to be an effective Clinical Photographer.”

The Talent for Care Awards, hosted by Health Education England take place 10 March 2016, where the winners will be announced.
