School Kids Hit the Recording Studios

Posted: 22nd December 2017

Children from Longtoft Primary school were invited in to Doncaster College and University Centre’s recording studios to record a Christmas jingle.

The event was organised by Music tutors Rob Tinsley and Simon Atkinson, who invited the children in on Wednesday 13th December to record “Away in a Manger”. The children and staff loved it so much, they returned to the College’s Campus in Stainforth for a second hit the following week.

“I can’t thank Simon and Rob enough for the wonderful experience they’ve given our children,” Janice Lyons, Longtoft Primary School teacher. “They were enchanted by all the amazing equipment and using the recording booth, they we’re just completely blown away.”

Music Technology students were on hand to support by setting up the recording studios and mixing both records, which were then sent back to Janice who shared them with the children and their parents.

Staff at the school, which sits right next to the College’s Stainforth Campus, were thrilled to be invited in, and are already planning on future collaborative projects for next year.

“Thanks to the staff and students at the college, the recording event was a huge success and we look forward to working together again in the new year,” Alison Buxton, Headteacher at Longtoft Primary School.
