Students Travel to France for International Work Placement

Posted: 25th February 2019

9 students from Doncaster College completed a 2 week all expenses paid mobility to Perpignan in the South of France.

The work placements, which took place this February, were organised by our host organisation Alfmed School, where Business students worked in accounts and promotion. Catering students worked in a variety of restaurants in Perpignan, ranging from fine dining to a traditional French creperie.

Alfmed offered students the opportunity to learn basic French in a 3-day intensive course before starting their placements, which helped to refine their language skills and prepare them for the work place.

Alongside working their day job, students experienced eating out in French, Spanish and Catalan restaurants whilst exploring culturally at the weekend, visiting Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas and the beautiful city of Barcelona – taking advantage of the close proximity to Spain.

Doncaster College is committed to providing students with opportunities to gain global employability skills and increased awareness of the value of international experiences through the Erasmus+ Programme.  Our students have returned with new skills, confidence and help towards their qualification.  This is a great addition to their CVs and an increase in their employability as well as being a fabulous cultural experience.

Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport for 2014-2020 which provides funding for people to study, train, gain work experience or volunteer abroad.
