
Doncaster College and University Centre are looking forward to welcoming three guest authors into College on Wednesday 1st May.
Joining us for the day is Dean Lomax, Sasha Lane and Craig Hallam.
Dean Lomax will be talking with students about palaeontology and his work experiences, which include being a co-presenter for ITV’s Dinosaur Britain. Dean is an internationally recognised multi-award winning palaeontologist, travelling the globe he has worked on many fascinating projects from excavating dinosaurs in the American West to describing new species of prehistoric reptiles and winning a gold medal for excellence in Science.
Dean will join Sasha Lane and Craig Hallam for a Q&A session with our students. Craig Hallam is an author whose works span all corners of Fantasy, Sci-fi and Horror. Since his debut in the British Fantasy Society journal in 2008, his tales have nestled twixt the pages of magazines and anthologies the world over. His Gothic Fantasy novel, Greaveburn, Steampunk trilogy, The Adventures of Alan Shaw, and the dark short stories of Not Before Bed have filled the imaginations of geeks, niche and alternative readers with their character-driven style and unusual plots.
Sasha Lane is a local author, living in Barnsley she works full time in the finance industry but writes in her spare time, allowing her imagination to have a whole lot of freedom as she write’s Chick lit novels. They’re Chick lit style with a hint of darkness.
Sasha likes to create characters that are everyday women so hopefully readers can find something about their personality or lifestyle that they can relate to and fall in love with them as much as she has whilst writing about them.
The authors will be doing talks on their writing process as well as an Q&A, author booths will be set up in the LRC Level 3 to give students the opportunity to chat one on one as well as have books signed and photo opportunities.
