Novel Coronavirus Update

Posted: 18th March 2020

We remain open, with normal timetables suspended for all students and apprentices from Thursday 19 March resuming on Monday 20 April 2020

Students, apprentices and staff are being supported to start studying and working from home as part of a phased plan for Doncaster College and North Lindsey College announced today – March 18 2020. The Leadership Team has taken this decision following Public Health England’s guidance on social distancing and travel and following guidance that schools and Colleges should remain open – also taking on board the briefing from the Prime Minister yesterday evening that this advice is “under continual review” and aware that this could change at very short notice.

To enable us to be prepared for a potential future closure, we have taken the decision to suspend normal timetables for all students and apprentices from Thursday this week (19 March 2020) to provide staff with the time to prepare and to enable remote learning from the start of next week. Normal timetables will remain suspended until after Easter (20 April 2020) and we will keep the situation under review during this period. To be clear we are not closing at this stage and are making flexible arrangements for external assessment and examinations to continue to go ahead and for our more vulnerable students. Any further updates will follow towards the end of this week so please ensure you return to this website for further notifications.

Staff and student safety are our utmost priority. Given that we have around 13,000 learners a year, based across different sites, it is important that we look at how we are working to ensure we keep everyone safe.

As a result of our phased plan, events and trips have already been postponed and we continue to keep other working practices under review. We are doing everything we can to plan for future scenarios including examinations. We aim to keep our learning centres and other services available to those students and apprentices who need them, for example providing access to remote learning for students, apprentices and staff who cannot access at home.

We will provide more information as soon as we can, as well as further advice to students and apprentices on continuing their studies at home and to our staff regarding working off-site.

Our Nurseries will remain open at this time subject to ability to maintain staffing levels.

We are closely monitoring the situation as it continues to evolve. Further updates will be posted here on the website. We will also share that information via our social channels.
