We are positively engaging with staff, students, and the community to develop the college’s sustainability agenda. We aim to embed climate responsibility into strategic planning, governance and staff development; this will help us to make changes and improvements on all campuses and in the local area.
Some of the initiatives that the college is delivering and looking to develop further include improved recycling, reduced food wastage, rewilding, greener outdoor spaces, less single use plastic, less print usage, electric vehicle charging options and various energy efficiency initiatives.
We are also looking to reach out to the local community. If you have any ideas or proposals, please get in touch. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Any staff or students who are also passionate about making a difference can get in touch!
The Sustainability Group developed and distributed a short online survey to students and staff to understand the appetite for action to combat climate change among the DN Colleges Group community and help to build the case for change.
Meet the Team
In my role as Chief Operating Officer, I have strategic leadership responsibility for finance, estates and IT, all being key areas within the DN Colleges Group response to the global climate emergency.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team and Chair of the College’s Sustainability Group, I am leading the College’s strategic objective to cultivate and drive forward an ambitious whole-College approach towards net-zero emissions and reducing environmental impact through innovation and collaboration.
My role is to engage staff, students, and the local community to think and act more sustainable and to help improve climate change in the local area. It’s my job to encourage more individuals to get on board across DN Colleges Group!
Within my role at DN Colleges Group, I work within the Higher Education Departments at University Campus North Lincolnshire and University Centre Doncaster. The Life Science department includes the natural science and animal welfare programmes. I deliver the Ecology and Conservation module on the FdSc Animal Welfare Science programme where we delve into the interactions animals have with nature and each other. I am very excited about the potential improvements the Sustainability Group can make to both the North Lindsey and Doncaster campuses.
I’m a Subject Specialist Lecturer in Social Science at UCNL. I became involved with the Sustainability Group due to the increasing interest from my students in tackling climate change. Their passion has inspired me to personally do more to help the environment at home, in my workplace and in the curriculum that I teach.

Andrea is a governor for Doncaster colleges group and has a keen interest in developing everyone to play their part in sustaining our environment. Sustaining our environment can be achieved through small changes to our own behaviour and ways of working so it’s important for everyone to take that first small step to make a difference to our future and the future of others.
