This level 4 qualification aims to provide all practitioners with the opportunity to upskill and develop management skills so that they can take on new roles and responsibilities.
The programme has been designed to consolidate and extend your existing skills and knowledge. This will take place in the setting in which you work and include observations of your practice.

Units and Structure
This qualification enables you to ‘learn as you earn’ by combining work-based learning with part-time study.
The course covers a wide range of topics, including:
- Legal requirements/Legislation in childcare
- Understanding child development
- Leadership, management and supervision
- Reflecting, reviewing & evaluating own practice
Important practical skills are also part of the programme and will include:
- Managing sessions for children
- Using evidence to develop your practice
- Leading and managing
- Implementing curricular frameworks are also part of the programme
Distance learning on this course is supported by our virtual learning environment (VLE), Canvas.
Online discussion forums allow you to communicate with fellow students, while the module tutor will communicate with you individually and as a group via this method.

You'll need to have:
You must be employed and have been a Level 3 practitioner for a minimum of 2 years, you must be over 18 years of age.
