Course Overview

These courses are introductory sessions to the practical areas of Ceramics, Drawing and Painting, Textiles, and Printmaking, and are suitable for all abilities. They will allow you to try new materials and creative methods in our specialist workshops, delivered and supported by our well qualified staff. Easily accessible in Doncaster town centre, these courses are all delivered at The Hub campus, Chapell Drive, DN1 2RF.

Each taster course runs for 2 or 5 weeks. Sessions run on a Tuesday evening from 6pm – 8pm. Courses costs TBC.

Drawing and Painting

Drawing and Painting courses encourage both traditional and non-traditional approaches to still life drawing and painting; inspired by an understanding of artists of the past.

Ceramics

Ceramics courses cover hand-building techniques, such as slab and coil building, and a variety of surface decorating processes using glazes and oxides. There is also the opportunity for using the potter’s wheel. Developing and Advancing students will begin to define their practice in a more individual direction.

A possible additional Wednesday afternoon class 1pm – 3pm, please enquire.

Textiles

Textiles courses involve a number of workshops including batik, tie dye, hand and machine stitching, knitting, and hand weaving; with a view to producing textile art works. Developing and Advancing students will begin to define their practice in a more individual direction.

Screenprinting

This course is designed for beginners as an introduction to Screen-printing. Here you can develop and explore 2D ideas to produce your own art. You will be introduced to techniques such as, layering, registration and colour mixing. Each member of the course will leave with their own set of limited edition, 2 colour A3 prints.
