The programme delivery will consist of three taught sessions along with continuing individual tutorial support and guidance. You will be assessed for this qualification by the course team undertaking three observations of the assessment in your specific subject area.

Units and Structure
The course is delivered through 3 classroom based teaching sessions and these are followed by individual tutorials and observations.
The course units are:
- Unit 301: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment.
- Unit 302: Assess occupational competence in the work environment.
- Unit 303: Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding.

All learners will need to complete an application and interview prior to commencement. You will need to have access to at least two learners who you are able to assess for the assessor course.

Programme Leader Teacher Education
I have been working in Education for since 1994 both in the United Kingdom and The Netherlands, teaching from Level 2 to Level 7 in the Further Education and Skills sector. I have also been involved in designing curriculum for Undergraduate, Post Graduate and Professional Programmes.
My industry background lies in Fashion and Textiles, but after moving into teaching I have worked closely with trainee teachers and acted in a mentor role to numerous new employees. I am also a qualified assessor, and have acted as an internal verifier and external verifier both in Further Education and Higher Education.
I am currently employed as a Lecturer in Education within the Department of Education, Health and Community Practice working across the suite of teacher training and education programmes.

Progression and Employment
Learners completing the assessor’s qualification often either move into an assessor role or become an assessor within their current teaching/training role.
