Course Overview
The City and Guilds Level 2 Barbering Certificate course is a nationally recognised qualification in barbering. You will develop practical skills in cutting and styling men’s hair and facial hair as well as shampooing and conditioning. Training will take place in our well equipped, modern salons, with instruction from our team of highly skilled, qualified and supportive tutors.
You will be taught through a combination of classroom and salon activities and will complete written and practical work. You will learn practical treatments by working on your colleagues, before progressing on to paying clients in our real life working salon.
Students will be required to purchase a kit and uniform costing approximately £100.00. Further details will be provided at your interview.
This course is intended to run from September on Tuesdays 13.30 – 20.30, this is subject to change.

Units and Structure
In Level 2 Barbering you will cover the following units:
- Working in the hair industry
- Follow health and safety in the salon
- Client consultation for hair services
- Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
- Cut men’s hair
- Cut men’s facial hair
- Styling men’s hair
- Salon reception duties
Entry Requirements
You'll need to have:
Requirements for Level 2 Barbering are as follows:
- All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English with a score of Level 1 or above
- Adult learners who do not hold any formal qualifications must achieve an initial assessment score of Level 1 or above in English
- All applicants must attend an interview
- Strong interest in Barbering
- Smart appearance
