Course Overview

The course lasts 1 year and takes place at The Hub. After successful completion of the course to a good standard, students can progress to a relevant Level 2 in Computing, Media or System Support or seek relevant employment.

The course content includes:

  • I.T User Fundamentals
  • Improving Productivity Using I.T
  • Set up an I.T System
  • Optimise I.T System Performance
  • I.T Security for Users
  • I.T Communication Fundamentals
  • Audio Software – Edit and create you own sounds
  • Design Software with Animation
  • Imaging Software – Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Website Software and HTML

Assessment is a combination of External Tests, Report writing, Witness Testimonies, Professional discussion and Digital Portfolio building.

The Level 1 was good because I furthered my IT skills all around, in a fun way. I learned lots of subjects including Computer Maintenance – setting up and fixing computers, Computer Imaging Skills using Photoshop and Illustrator, Video editing skills. I really enjoyed the course because I learned lots of new things with great, fun teaching.

It was fun learning new skills in all aspects of computing on the L1. I enjoyed learning the security and office skills, loved learning image editing and creation using Photoshop and Illustrator and really liked the computer maintenance, upgrading and repairing too.

Progression and Employment

Opportunities exist to enter the Digital and Computing Industries at a Junior Level but further study would be recommended to achieve employment in many job roles including IT Technician, Network Engineer and Programmer.
