Units and Structure

You will study 6 units (outlined below).  4 of the units are coursework based and 2 units are examined.  The whole qualification is equivalent to 1.5 ‘A’ levels.

Mandatory Units

  • Principles of Computer Science
  • Fundamentals of Computer Systems
  • IT Systems Security and Encryption
  • Business Applications of Social Media

(Optional Units)

  • Digital Graphics and Animation
  • Website Development

You will have regular tutorials designed to feedback the information you will require to progress your computing skills and knowledge.

Entry Requirements

You'll need to have:

  • 5 GCSEs at grades 9 – 4 including Maths and English and a Grade 5/6 in IT or
  • A Full Level 2 Diploma in IT with at least a Merit or equivalent as well as Maths and English

Progression and Employment

Opportunities exist to enter the Digital Industries at a Junior Level but further study would be recommended to achieve employment in many job roles including software programmer and networks and security managers.
