Course Overview

The course is a natural progression route for those completing the Level 1 course, and who wish to find employment within engineering.

The programme of study will offer the students the chance to learn both Mechanical and Electrical/Electronic Engineering skills that are sought in the sector.

Units and Structure

The course will cover:

  • Working Safely in an Engineering Environment
  • Carrying out engineering activities efficiently and effectively
  • Using and communicating Technical Information
  • Producing Mechanical Engineering Drawings using a CAD System
  • Producing Components using Hand Fitting Techniques
  • Wiring and Testing Electrical Electrical Equipment and Circuits

Assessment will be ongoing throughout the course by the creation of as portfolio of evidence of tasks produced and underpinning knowledge of each element.

  • GCSE English grade D
  • GCSE Maths grade D

  • completed Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) level 1
