Units and Structure

There are three core units:

  • Unit 001- Working Effectively and Safely in an engineering environment
  • Unit 002- Engineering Principles and Practice
  • Unit 003- Principles of Welding

There are three optional units:

  • Unit 015 Manual metal arc welding
  • Unit 016 Metal inert/active gas mig/mag welding
  • Unit 017 Tig welding
  • Unit 019 Thick Platework
  • Unit 020 Sheetmetal work
  • Unit 024 Pattern development

Entry Requirements

You'll need to have:

  • City & Guilds 2850 Level 2 or Performing Engineering Operations (Welding) at Level 2
  • All applicants must attend an individual interview
  • Entry requirements may be amended for mature students who have considerable relevant experience
