Course Overview

Doncaster College is renowned for its high quality training centre for hairdressing, this course offers excellent training whilst you are working along side your employer to give you the help and support you need to gain your qualification. You will be employed in industry and attend college one day per week.

The level 2 qualification will enable you to competently carry out treatments and services safely and effectively.  The course aims to provide level 2 practitioners with the necessary basic skills to be able to carry out shampoo and conditioning treatments, cutting, colouring, drying & setting & perming.  You will be taught through a combination of classroom activities, such as simulation/role-play, formal lectures, ILT methods, demonstration, tutorial and small group work plus in salon training.

The level 3 qualification will teach you to carry out services such as creatively cut hair, colour hair, colour correction, creatively styling and dressing hair, creating a variety of permed looks and providing hair extension services.

Qualifications included in the Apprenticeship framework are:

  • Diploma in Hairdressing at Level 2 or 3
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English at Levels 1 or 2
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

Apprenticeship Levy

In spring 2017 the way the government funds apprenticeships in England is changing. Some employers will be required to contribute to a new apprenticeship levy, and there will be changes to the funding for apprenticeship training for all employers.The apprenticeship levy will be introduced on 6 April 2017. Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme
