Course Overview

You’ll get to study in some of the best facilities in Doncaster, all of which are perfect to build up your skills and knowledge in the Construction and Built Environment sector.

If you’re not sure of the different specialist areas within the Construction and Built Environment sector, this course is perfect for you. Over the two year period you’ll understand the different roles and responsibilities and get the opportunity to develop further ready for your future.

HNC is a respected Nationally recognised qualification with a total of eight units to be completed. A summary of Unit 1: Design Principles and Application for Construction and the Built gives an idea of study around Environmental issues relevant to planning, design and production phases of the construction process, the coordination and management of each phase; factors affecting the selection of materials, systems and equipment; environmental impact of energy and other constraints on the planning, design and construction processes; roles, responsibilities and obligations (including liability for health, safety and welfare) of all parties involved in construction projects; cost implications and how technology affects the design of construction projects and the design processes and procedures used for the production phase.

Suitable for people wanting to advance their career in the construction industry via the supervisory, management, technical and professional route.

Units and Structure

Throughout your course you’ll learn site and project management skills, quantity surveying and building surveying skills, roles and responsibilities relevant to both the design and construction phases of a construction project.

Entry Requirements

You'll need to have:

Construction related Level 3 BTEC National Certificate or Diploma or Level 3 construction trade qualification + Minimum 5 years relevant construction industry experience + interview.
