Course Overview

The programme provides an opportunity to develop further knowledge and skills acquired through study at Level 3 to enable you to gain employment in the sector.

Alternatively, if you are a current practitioner in the sector the course will enable you to enhance your existing knowledge and experience for further career development.

Units and Structure

Communicating in Health and Social Care Organisations; Health and Safety in the Health and Social Care Workplace; Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care; The Sociological Context of Health and Social Care; Psychology in Health and Social Care; Principles in Health and Social Care; Working in Partnership in Health and Social Care; Developing Counselling Skills for in Health and Social Care.

200 Hours Placement.

Entry Requirements

You'll need to have:

Entry to the course requires 64 Ucas tariff points typically from one of the following:

  • A levels (DDE)
  • BTEC National Diploma (MMP)
  • Diploma in Foundation Studies
  • Adult Access to HE
  • APL
  • Relevant work/background experience

We also welcome applications from people who do not meet the standard entry criteria, but we would expect to see evidence of continuing academic and/or professional development.

The course provides an opportunity to develop further knowledge and skills to enable you to gain employment in the sector. Progression opportunities onto a HND at Level 5 may be available to you.

Essential Qualifications Revision Programmes

Revision programmes are available for undergraduates and graduates who require GCSE equivalency qualifications in Maths, English and Science or who need to refresh their current knowledge in order to pass Key Skills Tests for entry onto Initial Teacher Training programmes.
