This course can, upon achievement, give you a valuable insight into the various career paths available within the plumbing industry.

Units and Structure

The course is made up of the following units.

  • Understand and carry out safe working practices in Building Services Engineering
  • Understand how to communicate with others within Building Services Engineering
  • Understand how to apply environmental protection measures within BSE
  • Understand fundamental scientific principles within building services engineering
  • Understand and carry out copper pipe fabrication work for domestic plumbing systems
  • Understand and carry out low carbon steel pipe fabrication work for domestic plumbing systems
  • Understand and carry out plastic pipe fabrication work for domestic plumbing systems
  • Understand the key features of domestic plumbing systems
  • Understand and demonstrate techniques for installing and securing plumbing pipework

Entry Requirements

You'll need to have:

  • GCSE Grade D or Grade 3 or above In Maths and English or grade 3 (minimum requirements)
  • All applicants are required to undertake an initial and diagnostic assessment in Maths and English and achieve  level 1 scores prior to an interview.
  • It is also important that you have an interest in this dynamic industry, that you have a lively and enquiring mind, an interest in the sector, a willingness to explore new ideas and the ability to communicate your ideas.
