Course Overview

These short courses are designed for people running small businesses. We currently offer three business workshop subjects:

  • Understanding finance in business – £199
  • Cash flow for small business – £115
  • Budgeting for small business – £318

Each course runs twice a year for 2 evenings, and upon successful completion of the course you will receive a Doncaster College certificate.

Units and Structure

Understanding finance in business – Full Cost £199

Through this short course you will gain more insight into what the Income Statement (Profit & Loss) and Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet) figures actually mean for your business, and how to use these to assess the financial position of your business.

You will also gain an understanding of how budgets can help to manage your daily business activities.

The course runs twice a year for 2 evenings.

Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a college certificate.

Cash flow for small business – Full Cost £115

This short course is aimed at helping to improve the effectiveness of cash within your business.

You will learn how to prepare a cash budget for your business, look at ways to monitor and control cash flows and also assessing creditworthiness of new customers.

The course runs twice a year for 2 evenings.

Budgeting for small business – Full Cost £318

This short course is designed to help you to understand why budgets are important to any business, how budgets can help you to make informed decisions about your business.

The course runs twice a year for 2 evenings.

Course Leader

I started working for ASDA stores Ltd when I was 16; I progressed through the company and held a number of managerial positions. In 2006 I decided to I wanted a change of career and I decided to study AAT at Doncaster College, I went on to gain my full qualification. I have worked in the accounting industry in a number of roles. In 2011 I came to teach at college on a part time basis delivering Computerised accounts.  Since then I have been teaching AAT levels 1 to 4. I have also gained my Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) and have completed my Certificate in Education with Hull University
