This qualification will provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge needed when working directly with children and young people aged 5 – 19 in school environments.

Units and Structure

This qualification will provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge needed when working directly with children and young people aged 5 – 19 in school environments.  It includes learning about children and young people’s development, safeguarding their welfare and communication and professional relationships.

The course is based on a portfolio of evidence in which you will demonstrate your competence through work products and observations in the work place.

You will be required to attend weekly sessions in college for one morning per week to receive underpinning knowledge.

 

 

Entry Requirements

You'll need to have:

As this is a work-based course you must have secured either voluntary or employment within a school environment working with children aged 5 to 19 for minimum of 10 hours per week for the duration of the course.

Please note that you must have been volunteering or working in the placement in which you are to be assessed for at least 3 months prior to the course commencing.

Once we receive your application you will be invited in to carry out initial assessments in English and Maths. Only upon completion of these initial assessments will you be invited in for interview. Currently we are working towards the next start date which is planned for May. The next interview dates are scheduled in March and April.
