UAL Level 3 Diploma In Creative Media Production & Technology – Digital Art and Animation

The Diploma in Creative Media Production – Digital Art and Animation provides you with the opportunity to develop your design skills with industry techniques and software.

If you enjoy any form of digital art and animation, then this is the course for you!

Digital artists and animation specialists may work on a variety of projects—including artwork for the visual elements of games, film and tv, video animation, architecture design, fashion concept, storyboarding, automotive design, graphic novel creation, comic illustration, visual marketing, website interface design, Instruction/guide illustration, social media design,  and more—using a computer, drawing tablets and contemporary software programs such as photoshop.

You will learn to conceptualise an idea and create imaginative stories, using both traditional fundamental techniques and new digital techniques to a more professional standard.

You will be taught by industry specialists and go on trips to further your studies. To accompany you throughout all stages of the course you will have access to a range of professional design equipment including PC’s and drawing tablets.

The course is delivered through a series of 8 units, each with their own set of assignments.

All Assignments are graded on the quality of the portfolio and product – You do not sit an exam!
Units 1-3:

You will be creating visual design projects and exploring roles in the sector. Within this you will cover the theoretical links to audience, while practicing research techniques to structure your idea into a feasible product. Workshops are held to allow you to practice with equipment and build production skills.

Units 4-7: You will develop your skills further through the creation of 2D concepts and animations, you can also expect to be exploring the context of Games, Film and Anime design.”.

From the skills you have acquired in Units 1-7:
Unit 8: Grants you the freedom to choose something you would like to make for the final major project. This is often inspired by a project you have enjoyed the most from the year so you can explore it further in the final major project!

All Assignments are graded on the quality of the portfolio and product – You do not sit an exam!

Assessment methods

Portfolio

A minimum of 4 GCSEs grades C or above including English (or 4-9 ) and Maths at D or above (3-9) or a First Diploma in Relevant Subject Level 2 at Merit.

All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English and attend an interview.
