Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care NCFE

This qualification provides an ideal taster for learners who may be new to the sector or new to the world of work. It is accessible to learners of all ages who may want to understand more about working in health and social care. It aims to introduce some basic concepts of caring and preparation for employment in the sector.

It aims to introduce knowledge around the following areas relating to working in adult social care:

  • communication
  • equality, diversity and inclusion
  • personal development
  • role of the social care worker
  • handling information
  • health and safety
  • safeguarding
  • duty of care
  • person-centred approaches.

Our distance learning courses are completed online, so there is no need for any personal attendance in college, however you can always attend college if you feel you need this.

You will complete assessments by answering questions and submitting them to your tutor via the online learning platform.

You will be given full written feedback on your assessments within 5 working days.

Your tutor is available by email, or Mobile Phone during office hours if you need support with your studies.

To study the courses, you need to have a suitable device such as a laptop, a desktop computer, or a tablet such as an iPad. You also need access to the internet.

Please note: It is not possible to complete the courses on a mobile phone as they are not compatible with our learning platform.

On successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate from NCFE awarding body, confirming your achievement.

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully achieve 9 mandatory units.

Units covered are:

  • Principles of communication in adult social care settings (L/602/2905)
  • Principles of personal development in adult social care settings (L/602/3035)
  • Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings (H/602/3039)
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care (A/601/8574)
  • Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings (H/601/5474)
  • Understand the role of the social care worker (A/602/3113)
  • Understand person-centred approaches in adult social care settings (J/602/3180)
  • Understand health and safety in social care settings (R/602/3179)
  • Understand how to handle information in social care settings (Y/602/3118)

This is a knowledge-based qualification which is internally assessed and externally moderated by NCFE.

 To meet the standards, you will complete the online assessment with either a pass or resubmit.

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification, however you must:

  • Currently live in England
  • Resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years, for purposes other than study
  • be aged 19+
  • Not be on an apprenticeship

It is anticipated that learners who achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care will progress to either the Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care or the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.

 Course Career Prospects

The Level 2 course in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care can be applied in future career paths such as;

  • Social Work assistant (£12,500 to £25,000)
  • Care Worker (£13,500 to £25,000)
  • Nurse (£25,654 to £31,533)
