Entry LevelStudents with no qualifications
  • Initial Assessment in Numeracy and Literacy.
Level 1Students with few or no qualifications.
  • Either 2 GCSE grades 1 and above and Initial Assessment in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Or Entry Level and Initial Assessment in Literacy and Numeracy.
Level 2Students who have already achieved a Level 1 or students wishing to specialise in a particular area of work
  • Either Level 1 in a relevant subject and Initial Assessment in Literacy
  • Or 4 GCSEs grades 3 and above including English. Maths and other relevant subjects may be specified depending on course choice and Initial Assessment in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Or Merit at Foundation Level and Initial Assessment in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Or equivalent qualifications or relevant industrial experience and Initial Assessment in Literacy and Numeracy.
Level 3Students with the appropriate GCSEs
  • Either Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject and Initial Assessment in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Or either 4-5 GCSEs 9-4 including English. Maths or other relevant subjects may be specified depending on course choice and Initial Assessment in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Or GNVQ intermediate or first diploma at merit and Initial Assessment in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Or equivalent qualifications or relevant industrial experience and Initial Assessment in Literacy and Numeracy.
